Flipping Tiles!Flipping Tiles!

Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 18, 2026

Nocturnal Studios LLC (“Nocturnal Studios,” “we,” “us”) makes Flipping Tiles! The Matching Game (the “Game”), a memory and matching game for iPhone and Android. This policy covers the Game on iPhone (App Store) and on Android (Google Play, coming soon). It explains, in plain English, what the Game does and does not do with your information.

This policy covers the Game. The Nocturnal Studios website at nctrnlstudios.com shows ads through Google AdSense, which uses cookies; the website is covered by the site privacy policy, not by this page.

The short version

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The Game shows full-screen ads supplied by Google AdMob. On iPhone, to serve, measure and limit those ads, and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:

Google may place or read identifiers on your device in order to serve and measure these ads.

On Android, to show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google’s ads SDK may collect the device’s IP address (and the approximate location derived from it), the Android advertising ID and app set ID, ad and app interaction data (app launches, taps, ads viewed or clicked) and diagnostics (such as launch time and performance). Google may place or read identifiers on the device to serve and measure ads.

How Google handles this data is governed by Google, not by us:

Ads are limited to general-audience (G) content. We have set the Game’s maximum ad content rating to G in AdMob and blocked AdMob’s sensitive ad categories, so ads should be suitable for a 4+ (App Store) and Everyone / PEGI 3 (Google Play) audience.

Where ads can appear

Never while a board is being played, and at most one ad every two minutes.

Report an ad

If you see an ad that is inappropriate for this Game, email support@nctrnlstudios.com with the time you saw it and a short description or a screenshot. We will report it to Google and block the advertiser where we can.

Personalized ads and your choices

The iOS tracking question (iPhone only)

The Game asks the iOS “Allow tracking?” question once. Only players who allow it get personalized ads; everyone else gets non-personalized ads. You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

The Android advertising ID

Android has no “Allow tracking?” question. Any Android player can reset or delete the advertising ID in the phone’s settings (Settings › Privacy › Ads, or Settings › Google › Ads, depending on the phone).

Privacy Choices in the Game

Players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see Google’s consent form the first time they play, and can change that consent later from Settings › Privacy Choices in the Game.

Players in US states where it applies will find “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” in the same place: Settings › Privacy Choices.

On Android, players in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (and in US states where required) see Google’s consent message after their first finished board, and can change their choice later in the Game’s Settings › Privacy Choices, where US-state players also find “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”.

Declining tracking or consent never limits the Game. Every level, feature and score works exactly the same. The ads you see may simply be less relevant.

Remove Ads (in-app purchase)

Remove Ads is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase of US$2.99 in the US (Apple and Google Play set local prices). It removes all ads for good.

On iPhone, it is restorable on any device signed in to the same Apple Account, through Restore Purchases in the Game’s Settings.

On iPhone, Apple processes the payment. We never see your payment details — no card number, no billing address, nothing. We receive no payment information of any kind.

On Android, Google Play processes the payment, under Google Play’s terms, and the Game checks the purchase with Google Play on the device. We receive no payment information. The purchase is tied to the Google Account used to buy it and is restored on a new Android phone with RESTORE (Restore Purchases) in the Game’s Settings, signed in to Google Play with the same Google Account.

Purchases don’t carry over between the App Store and Google Play.

What is stored on your device

Your progress, your settings and your saved run are stored only on your iPhone or Android phone. We never receive them. Deleting the app deletes them.

Android backup: if you have Android’s own backup turned on, Android may include the Game’s save in your Google Account backup and restore it on a new phone. That backup is run by Google; nothing is sent to us.

Game Center (iPhone)

The Game uses Apple Game Center, which is optional, for a leaderboard, achievements and friends’ scores. You can play the whole Game without it.

Game Center is run by Apple, not by us, and your use of it is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. Any score or achievement you submit goes to Apple, not to Nocturnal Studios.

If you allow the Game access to your Game Center friends, the Game checks your friends’ best scores on your device, including through iOS Background App Refresh. It does this for one reason only: to show you a local notification when a friend passes your score. Nothing is sent to us.

Google Play Games (Android)

On Android, the Game uses Google Play Games, the Android counterpart of Game Center. It is optional. If you have a Google Play Games profile, the Game signs in automatically and Google receives your gamer profile (gamertag and avatar), the achievements you unlock and your leaderboard scores. Only if you allow it, the Game also gets your Play Games friends list, which the leaderboard’s Friends tab shows.

Google Play Games is run by Google, not by us, under Google’s Privacy Policy. You can manage or delete your Play Games profile and game data in the Google Play Games settings.

There is no “a friend passed your score” notification on Android. That iPhone feature uses iOS Background App Refresh.

Notifications and Background App Refresh

The Game can schedule local notifications on your device, such as a reminder to come back and play. These are created and delivered on your phone.

On iPhone, you can turn notifications off at any time in the Game’s Settings, or in iOS Settings › Notifications › Flipping Tiles!. Background App Refresh (iPhone only) can be turned off in iOS Settings › General › Background App Refresh.

On Android, the Game asks once for permission to send notifications (Android 13 and later). You can turn reminders off in the Game’s Settings or in the phone’s Settings › Apps › Flipping Tiles! › Notifications. Reminders arrive around 18:30 local time, sometimes a little later, because Android may delay them to save battery.

What we do not do

Children’s privacy

The Game is rated 4+ on the App Store and Everyone / PEGI 3 on Google Play, and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Ads are limited to general-audience (G) content. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information, contact us at support@nctrnlstudios.com and we will delete it.
